what benefits does yoga provide?

Yoga builds resilience in the mind and body. Not only does it increase flexibility, strength and overall physical fitness it also works our deeper layers and decreases blood pressure, anxiety, stress, chronic pain and much more! There really is no down side to yoga!

i am a beginner can i join a class?

Of course! Our classes cue variations for all the yoga poses so they are attainable for all students, including those who have never previously practiced yoga. We advise investing in a yoga mat, yoga blocks, strap and bolster to assist you with your practice at home.

How often should I practice yoga?

Ideally, everyday! Yet this also depends on your motivation to practice. For the health benefits mentioned above I would recommend practicing about three times a week. If you are using yoga as a cross train to your professional sport I recommend practicing once a week in addition to your training schedule.

do i have to be spiritual to practice yoga?

No. Yoga is not a religion. Although some religions practice yoga, yoga in itself is a philosophy. It’s a way of looking at life from different perspectives. Yoga is at times a spiritual practice, but you do not have to be spiritual to practice yoga. The practice of yoga most importantly contains tools to help us live a well-balanced life full of health and harmony, and clear thinking.

i suffer anxiety and depression can yoga help aid this disease?

Yoga specifically targets the symptoms of anxiety and depression by releasing tension in the body and giving yourself space to slow down, breath and think clearly. Even more pertinent, at time of writing, experts in neuroscience believe that yoga and meditation may be in fact so good for the brain that it can effectively alter the brain waves, strengthening the good parts of the brain and building resilience to brain disease such as anxiety and depression, and dementia.

I have an injury can I practice yoga?

Yes, in fact yoga can specifically assist in the rehabilitation from physical injury or physical disease i.e. scoliosis, anterior pelvis tilt etc. Consult with your doctor and then speak to me about your injury so we can tailor a program to your needs.
